Doc Flowers says he “makes his music for all ages and backgrounds”. His vision is to combine a vast array of musical influences to create a sound that can be enjoyed by everybody, everywhere. Doc thoroughly enjoys what he’s doing which comes across in every song on his debut album Breakin’ Out. He says, “Music is my life passion and I only play from the heart so the listener can feel my expression of feelings and emotions.”

Although Doc has been playing guitar for over 30 years, he continues to listen and learn. His musical influences include George Benson, Carlos Santana, B.B. King, Peter White, Paul Jackson Jr., Norman Brown, Doc Powell, Larry Carlton, and Marc Antoine. He says, “Always keep your mind open to new and different things and thereby you will always grow.”

Doc Flowers has had the honor to perform with Skip Mohoney & the Casuals, Denise Davis (formerly of Roy Ayers), Charlie Hampton Trio, Expressions Band, Second Chance Vocal Group, Silk Soul Band, Sounds of Incline, and Inflight Jazz Band (which he also co-founded). Doc also has recorded guitar for many local and national recording projects including Rap, Gospel, R&B, Progressive Jazz, and original compositions. Doc has also performed at many metropolitan area banquets and wedding receptions.

Doc is also a song-writer, producer, and session musician. He recently joined ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers). He is also a current member of the DC Federation of Musicians local 161-710 and WAMA (Washington Area Music Association). Over the past year he’s been performing with Sounds of Incline Band throughout the metropolitan area.
