Artist Q&A
Q. How did you get started in music?
A. I got involved with music at the age of 13 when I
first started playing the piano. I tried a lot of different types of music,
playing with different bands and of course experimenting with anything
that I could think of. But I actually started working on my “solo
artist” project a little over a year ago, when I realized that I
had some songwriting, singing and arranging skills. I immediately started
recording frequently and I think I have written nearly 20 songs since
then. I really feel that every song that I write is a little step that
I take towards being a better songwriter.
Q. How would you describe the music you
make?
A. I think this is one of the most difficult questions
that you can ask a musician because it’s always hard to label yourself.
But I think I would describe my music as a melodic mix of rock/pop-punk
viewed and arranged to my own style, backed up with strong string arrangements,
piano playing and catchy choruses to create an unforgettable listening
experience.
Q. What makes you a unique artist?
A. I think that the fact that I compose, write, perform,
and sing all of my own music sets me apart from a lot of artists, because
nowadays not many of them can combine all these things and still keep
a high quality musical composition or song. I also think that my music
speaks for itself in this matter because even though you might find it
sounds familiar, you will also find it very innovative and full of surprises
that will surely catch your attention. Finally, don’t be astounded
if you find yourself singing along later - as if you were still listening
to it.
Q. What is in the future for JJ Gomez?
A. I think there will always be music in my future, no
matter in which way; I will always be linked to music. In this moment
I’m headed in the direction of becoming a recording artist. I really
want to be able to transmit all of this energy to an audience that can
relate to my music and me. I want to be able to send out a positive message
to as many people as I can. I want people to let out their emotions through
my songs and feel them on a very personal level if they truly affect them
in any possible way, and finally I just want to be able to experience
the wonderful and exciting world of music as it is.
