The first step in the production process is custom crafting the instrumental for your song. We will reach a common direction for the tone and concept of the song and base the instrumental track around that direction. Instrumentals usually take 2 hours.
If you are an instrumentalist (such as guitarist or keyboardist) or band, we will approach the production around your composition. If you are interested in additional live drums, guitar, vocalists, horns, or bass, we can arrange session musicians as 'work for hire'. Session musician prices vary from $20-$60 per hour. Please inform us ahead of time if you are interested in hiring a session musician.
Whether you are a seasoned vet or brand new to vocal recording, it can be helpful to have a fresh set of ears to guide you through and affirm your performance. You will receive assistance in capturing the proper energy and attitude for each song. You should find your recording environment comfortable and supportive.

Mixing can be the difference between an amateur sounding CD and professional one. We will utilize our best effects processors and mixing software to give your songs a crisp and balanced mix. Vocal quality continues to be an uncompromised part of our production. Much of the mixing is done during the recording process as a result of our expertise. The final touches to the mix are added before the mastering stage.
Mastering takes place once all of your songs are recorded and mixed. It is the final step before you send your music to the manufacturer to print your CDs. In mastering, we will max out all of the volume levels to reach industry standards. We will also adjust EQ and add other effects to assure your CD is a consistent play from one song to the next. Album mastering generally takes 3-4 hours. Free mastering is offered to any artist or group who has their entire album produced by Gemstar Pro.
